October 21st Interactive Resume Progress- Now with 50% less Giraffe Neck!

October 21, 2008

Michael was starting to look a bit too much like he belonged in the animal kingdom. I took away his giraffe neck, and camel hump. Also I finished the head on view of his head, and am now working on the body. Here’s an update from yesterday’s:

October 20th Interactive Resume Update

October 20, 2008

I am currently clad in Sam’s kickin, Aviator sunglasses. I could go into a long winded tale on how my pair broke, and the history/travels of such shades, but instead I will talk about character.

Specifically Michael. Yes, still him. I decided to take a break from pursuing the coding, as that can come later. After all, you can’t learn to walk if the world under you hasn’t been drawn yet.

Although from the early animation test I saw that when turning Michael around, it looked far too choppy. So I’ve decided to make an in between state. Mind the eyes:

Bell rang

October 16th- Blog Progress

October 16, 2008

Today the interactive resume took a back seat to making the blog you are reading right now, up to current (and assigned) standards. I added Link’s to the sidebar that will eventually update into Portfolio pieces (although you should click them all now, to boost my other blogs stats). In addition to that I added a Calender and Blog Stats to the sidebar as well, mainly because I like the look of them on my other blog. Finally I added a Flickr widget to the sidebar that you can check out my most recent images (most of which will continue to be uploaded here until I reach the Storage Capacity.

All in all, worthwhile updates. Now to get that dang walk cycle on keypress working…

October 15th Interactive Resume Progress (or lack there of)

October 15, 2008

I spent the day trying to get my walk animation to start on a key press. Right walk animation would start when you hit the right arrow key. Simple, right? I’m sure I would have been able to do it last year, but I’m having a hard time recalling the coding. I read that you can only apply keypress codes to buttons on the stage rather than the timeline. Everything I’m doing just brings up errors. Hopefully I can get some help tomorrow.

October 14th Interactive Resume Progress- First Steps

October 15, 2008

Another day of working to the bell, so this blog post is coming on the day following. What was I working on? Walk cycle. Check it:

Actually the GIF didn’t come out all that well. The thing looks much better in flash. It’s progress though!

October 13 Interactive Resume Progress-Screenshot Time!

October 14, 2008

Today is a landmark day! Actually it’s a monday. Well, Actually Actually it’s Tuesday. I didn’t have time to post yesterday. I was too busy working on this lovely Screenshot.

While not fully assembled in flash just yet, this looks like how I imagined it would. I assembled all of the assets into Photoshop. This is how it will look in the game (Interactive Resume).

October 10th Interactive Resume Progress

October 10, 2008

I started working on my menu option/HUD today. I think I may model them in 3D instead of flash…  I got up to my map so far. Notes, chatlog, and StoryMode/Express are still in progress. I don’t feel it’s complete enough to post any images, but it should be done tomorrow.

I don’t feel good.

October 9th Interactive Resume Progress- First Words!

October 9, 2008

Today I worked on my character art a bit more. I fixed some color issues, and redistributed all of my facial features to seperate layers. At first it was going to just be a test sketch of Michael, but I’m digging the direction. It could at least be used for conversation windows, as I’ve created a test animation of him talking. It’s kind of weirding me out, seeing the stuff I’ve drawn in motion. Less of a “There is a cow walking on the ceiling and no one seems to notice” weird, more of a “Holy Smack, I just realized that King Arthur in Camelot (1967) is the same actor behind Dumbledore in the first few Harry Potter Movies, RICHARD HARRIS!”. A good weird… Yeah…

Anyway, below are the Michael Talkie Test, and the updated Michael (Color’d and crudely added to yesterdays Diner Jpeg).

October 8th Interactive Resume Progress

October 8, 2008

Today we went on a BPA field trip. We took a bus, and I was pleased to note that we had enough room with Juniors and Seniors.

It may seem as if I’m stalling. Truth be told, I left my thumbdrive at home. All of my files are on there. It’s a pretty poor place to be in, I gotta admit. So I will share with you my ideas for a teaser trailer.

[Dark Screen, Fade into eye opening. DUM DUM]

[Diner counter, Coffee cup hitting table. Piano]

Older man’s voice: No one comes to Von Isla without no rhyme nor reason…

[Rising Strings and Bass music]

Waitress: I haven’t seen him around for a while now. Shame too, his fantastic stories created quite the audience…

[Michael waking up, getting out of bed]

Flynn (general store): Kel and I are pretty good friends. He actually designed our Company logo!

[Michael putting on Hat. Looks at Camera]

[BOOM. Darkness]

Michael: I’m flawed, sure. But if there’s one thing I’m good at, It’s this job. I’ll find your man.

[Fade in text: FAUCET: THE VON ISLA CHRONICLES (A Kel Lind Interactive Resume)]

2009.

All of that is subject to change I suppose. I may not even devote time to making a trailer. While writing though, I got some good ideas as for the opening title video.

NOTE TO SELF: Don’t forget thumbdrive, and (or) copy files to School PC. Oh Kel… You’re quite a guy…
